The Juice of the fresh plant is taken up into an ointment and applied to haemorrhoids. The astringent and counter irritant properties make it a successful symptomatic treatment but of course do not address  the causes, which may be various*. It can also be taken as an infusion

*of this painful and troublesome condition . It is essential to consider whether the digestive organs especially the liver, need treatment or whether improvement can be made to the venous drainage of the legs and pelvis

Hawthorn, Crategus monogyna

Hawthorn Blossom dilates coronary arteries and relaxes tone in the circulation hypotensive. It reduces sensitivity of mycocardium and improves its oxygen by increasing blood flow through the heart. It strengthens the heart muscle without increasing the beat or raising blood pressure. Enhances exercise duration and improves circulation in coronary arteries.

Make a tea from the dried flowers and drink it every day. You can also tincture the leaves, fruits and berries as they appear throughout the year. Hawthorn is safe to take long-term.

The stems contain the familiar milk white juice which should be applied to warts every day for a month to be effective. The leaves and roots are diuretic, laxative and cholagogue. It is generally a stimulant but especially to the urinary system. The leaves are mostly of benefit to the kidneys and the roots mainly for the liver. It can be used for gall bladder inflammation, gall stones and jaundice. It is prescibed for kidney and bladder problems, and when combined with Celery Seed helps to remove uric acid from the body. The leaves are very high in Potassium and Vitamin A.
